What if I choose the wrong course?
Our course provides a personalised solution to any area's of development, as our informal baseline test will identify these areas in your child's understanding. This will be a personalised and effective experience.
Is it value for money?
Please be our guest to research other schools or tuition. Many private tuition is hourly far more expensive (£25 - £50 pr hr) and is often not delivered by non practicing subject specialist teachers, but by university under grads without current exam spec knowledge. Other holiday courses are often residential and from £1k-£5k.
Will this make any difference to my child?
Being able to work on the areas that you need to most, in small groups over a period of 4-8 days, will build a new level of confidence and lead to a stress free year 11 experience .
Will my child actually engage with this?
Due to the small, informal setting we hope your child will feel more relaxed. No unform, first name basis only and a relaxed atmosphere, where they are praised for the 'little steps' to success will hopefully change the way your child see the experience. Then for their hard work during the week they are then taken out for a reward day to celebrate their efforts.
What will my child be missing if they don't attend?
Not all, but many pupils suffer from not 'getting' certain aspects of school subjects. Scared of not wanting to stand out or feel inadequate these fears go un heard. At The Year 10 Summer School, students have the opportunity to anonymously highlight these areas in the baseline test and address these before starting year 11.
Is there a lot of work?
Is there homework?
We understand that's it is your child's summer holiday and The Summer School is not about oppressive workloads, quite the opposite.
We would rather your child learns through high quality tuition than stacks of photocopied work sheets. Quality over quantity...and nobody wants homework over the summer, unless you ask for it!
