Is The Year 10 Summer School part of Hitchin Boys School?
No, it is a separate company from the school its based from. We hire the classrooms and toilet facilities from Hitchin Boys School.

When does the day start?
Holiday
Classes start at 9am...but pupils arrive at 8.50am.
Saturday School starts at 10am..but pupils should arrive at 9.50
There will be signs out to direct pupils where to go.

How much is it?
Holiday Courses only £300 a week (for 4 days of small group tuition or 16 hrs) and a Friday Reward day. A packed lunch for after can be purchased for £30-£40 a week.
Saturday School is £50 for a double subject (2hrs), £80 for all 4 hrs or £70 each for 3 4h bookings.

When are toilet the breaks?
Students can use the toilets when they need to, its about being comfortable.
Outside of this pupils will get a 10 minute comfort/ brain break every hour.

Do I need to provide a packed lunch?
Pupils can bring their own packed lunch to go home with them or a snack each day if they want.

Alternatively
we can provide packed lunch options at a cost of £30 per week (vegetarian) or £40 a week for a non vegetarian.*

Lunch is from 12pm to 12.30pm.

Are mobile phones allowed?
Phones are allowed but should be kept away.
Again we want the pupils to get the most out the lessons as much as possible.

What time does the day end?
Holiday courses will end at 1pm. Saturday School ends at 2.30pm.

Will there be other people onsite?
Year 10 Summer School is based on a school site which may have tradespeople working onsite at the same time. Pupils will be kept in separate classrooms without work going on. If pupils need to leave a classroom for anything, a member of The Summer School will accompany them.

Are you staff DBS checked?
Yes! All staff have current full enhanced DBS with barring certificates and are experienced
teachers and school leaders.

Do you have risk assessments for the activities outside the classroom?
Yes! All our activities have full risk assessments and are comprehensively insured.

What should I do if my child is sick/cannot attend?
Please could you let us know by text message from the phone number you gave when booking with your full name and your child's full name.

Do I get a refund if my child is sick/cannot attend?
When you book your child's place, you are paying for the placement not your child's attendance, therefore we cannot issue a refund for this.

Do I get a refund if I cancel?
We understand that plans change so please contact us if your plans change to discuss your cancellation.

If you cancel before 7 days the start date, we will issue a 50% refund.

If you cancel within 7 days we will endeavour to fill your child's place. We cannot, then unfortunately we will not be able to issue a refund.

Unfortunately all business do have costs that we have to cover and we do hope you understand.

My child has additional learning needs, SEND, ADHD etc. Will you be able to support them?
Due to the nature of the summer school being a short term course/Saturday School with lots of
change each day, in new environments and people, this may not be suitable for all children.
As parents you must make a decision on whether they will comfortable. However academically
we will do our very best to cater for all children the best we can.
